PILIBHIT: The forest authorities at Pilibhit Tiger Reserve have chalked out a plan to develop infrastructure at the Chuka spot to encourage eco-tourism and attract tourists. Chief conservator of forest M P Singh announced the impending upgradation after a TOI report highlighted the lack of tourism infrastructure at the spot which was thrown open to tourists on November 15. The chief conservator said that before the notification of Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, the forest department was bound to focus on new plantation in forest area, the management of felling work concerned with forest corporation and other activities but now the development of infrastructure like construction of roads, erection of watch towers and the renovation of huts at Chuka spot would be one of the prime objectives of the department. Divisional forest officer Kailash Prakash said the initial infrastructure developed at Chuka spot was a result of government funds provided to the forest department under border area development plan.
